If you go out to see live music in New Orleans, chances are you will, at some point, share space with me. I will have a camera with a flash attached that I use aggressively in pursuit of my photographic goals. I suspect one of the main reasons people have a problem with me is that I often flash bomb THE FUCK out of anything in front of me that I deem worthy. If you don’t like my behavior, I ask you to kindly ask me to move along, or use a hand over your eyes in an “I’M FUCKING BLIND” pantomime as a cue for me to chill out. I promise, I will stop. At least momentarily, unless the moment is more important than your desire for me to stop, which does happen, but not often, so please, just ask me. Politely. I’ve had to smash no less than two adult men in the head, repeatedly, with my camera in 2014 because they chose to touch me instead of using a more polite method to get my attention. Pro-tip: Your head will break before my camera does. The photos that follow were all snapped in a 16 day period in July 2014. None of them would exist if I wasn’t there, scorching the retinas of everyone near me.
