Letter From the Editor: I Don’t Lie

Published  May 2016

If I could butcher a phrase from The Shining (har har), let me just say: all editing and no play makes Dan a dull boy. Been a crazy month at AG HQ, folks. I won’t lie. Adhering to a monthly schedule in New Orleans is a fool’s errand. Each new flip of the calendar brings a fresh fog to descend over the populace, whether it’s Mardi Gras brain, Fest brain, October brain, Christmas and New Year’s brain, crawfish brain, snoball brain, Saints brain—when all is said and done there’s probably about 3 weeks of true productivity in a given year. I guess that’s that whole, don’t-give-a-fuck-but-in-a-cool-French-sounding-way attitude that makes us who we are. Nevertheless! We tempted fate again and I’m happy to present the May 2016 issue to you. Hopefully everyone is recovering from the last gasp of tourist season and are ready to settle into their summer brains. From the riverbank at the end of Deslondes Street to the chickens talking uptown and the frogs croaking downtown, this issue is full of great, only- in-NOLA earthly sights and smells. Breathe it in. —Dan Fox
