“Through my work, I want to document the maternal awakening I’ve had being surrounded by the women of this city. I want to document the feeling of taking the streetcar alone at 4 a.m., not waiting for anyone to be at the end of the line. The feeling of being in an ocean fully clothed. The feeling of fertility when you know you’re not capable of having a child. Being a woman is a war. New Orleans just happens to be the battleground.”
