ANTIGRAVITY is a free, monthly magazine published in ledger-sized, black and white newsprint and distributed throughout the New Orleans metro region (print run: 11,000 copies). We specialize in original content that spotlights New Orleans artists and those passing through. Our coverage also includes social justice issues, food, reviews, opinion pieces, comics, and original photography. ANTIGRAVITY is in its 13th year (150+ issues) and comes out the first week of every month in print, with the web version following usually a week after.
HOW TO PITCH:
ANTIGRAVITY specializes in under-documented stories and artists, though we do occasionally cover larger, more high-profile stories and artists. The monthly content of ANTIGRAVITY is largely writer-sourced. We do not usually assign pieces; instead we count on our contributing writers to present ideas, subjects, artists, etc. that they are specifically interested in.
*You should be familiar with ANTIGRAVITY content before you pitch. Our content varies wildly between music, culture, and political themes. Your pitch should be timely and as specific and detailed as possible.
*If you have previous writing samples, please include up to 3 in your email.
*Pitches should include a timeline for completion of the piece and the corresponding ideal issue month.
*Word count is not important when pitching, but for reference, our features usually span from 1,500 words to 3,000 words.
*Please send pitches to firstname.lastname@example.org.
*We do our best to respond to all pitches, but we are sometimes inundated. We ask for your patience in receiving a response.
